All measured values sent wirelessly using Bluetooth via the patient’s cell phone or home gateway by BodyTel devices are saved in the patient’s online record. All patient records are located in a secure database, which is also part of the medically approved overall system. This database can be accessed via the BodyTel Center (the www.bodytel.com online portal).

The data remain the exclusive property of the patient. Only the patient can access his/her values in the form of the personal online record.

If desired by the patient, he/she may permit third parties (e.g., doctors, family members, etc.) to view the record, using the optional monitoring function. These support persons can then themselves decide, whether and in the event of what unusual measurement values, a real-time alarm is necessary and how the alarm message is to be sent (by text message, e-mail, or fax). As the owner of the data, the patient can, at any time, withdraw granted monitoring rights.

The user can access the online record in two ways: on a computer with internet access or via his/her cell phone. In both cases, an SSL-encrypted connection is automatically established between the computer or cell phone and the online database. This can be compared to online banking or making purchases from an online shop. If the patient enters new values or additional information into the database from his/her cell phone or a PC, these are also transferred with encryption.

Advantages for patients:

• Complete measured values from BodyTel devices are automatically transferred into the personal online record and are correctly sorted by means of a time stamp (date and time).
• Information relevant to treatment such as meals, medication, and activities (sports, stress, etc.) can be entered manually, either via cell phone, the home gateway, or the online record.
• All values are displayed in detailed graphical form (users can choose between individual BodyTel measuring devices, time periods, etc.)
• Access management enables patients to grant or withdraw support persons access to their values (doctors, health consultants, family members, etc.)
• Export functions for PDF or Excel are also available.

Important properties for everyone supporting a patient:

• The BodyTel Center contains a complete patient record with unaltered measured values and additional information about meals, medication, and other activities.
• All values are displayed in detailed graphical form (users can choose between individual BodyTel measuring devices, time periods, etc.) and analyzed using additional tools.
• The optional alarm function allows thresholds to be defined individually for patients and devices, e.g., blood glucose target ranges, weight threshold values, or blood pressure parameters, with an alarm being triggered if the measured values exceed or fall below these limits.
• Support persons can, if desired, be notified by text message, e-mail, or fax, if an alarm situation arises.
