BodyTel System
BodyTel products support patients with home diagnostics for chronic illnesses, prevention, and lifestyle changes advised by medical professionals. The key is the automatic documentation and transfer of the measured body values as well as the simple recording of relevant additional information and thus the development of complete patient files. The patient can – if desired – allow medical professionals and support persons to view his/her measured values. Doctors and supporting persons depend on complete and precise patient data in order to provide effective treatment. This information gap is closed by the BodyTel management and –monitoring system and enables active measures to be taken before or during situations which require intervention.
The BodyTel products GlucoTel™, PressureTel™, and WeightTel™ are based on a central infrastructure. All devices possess an integrated Bluetooth module, with which the measured body values are automatically and wirelessly sent to a transfer station (patient’s home gateway or cell phone). In turn, this station fully automatically forwards the received values to a secure online database, using a protected internet connection (SSL encryption). The entire transfer process takes place automatically and in real time, without the patient having to do anything else.
The BodyTel system including its vital sensors, the hardware and software of the transfer stations, and the database are certified and approved in accordance with the current Medical Devices Directive.
The data always remain the exclusive property of the patient. Only the patient can authorize other people such as doctors, health advisors, support persons, or family members to view his/her complete record. Each authorized person must also give their consent before they can access data in the BodyTel Center with their own user account.
In addition to simple viewing of data, all support persons have the option of actively having an alarm sent to them under defined conditions. As soon as a transferred value exceeds or falls below a pre-defined threshold, the support person is informed in the desired way (e.g., by text message, e-mail, or fax). This enables, for example, a fast reaction in the event of a risk of hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia in a patient with diabetes.
