Mobile Nursing Services

Mobile nursing services are responsible for many different patients – and cannot be everywhere all the time. In regular visits, the recording and checking of measured vital values is one of the tasks of the nursing staff. But if the patient takes measurements between visits and a situation arises, in which active intervention is recommended, the specialists will not know anything about it. The patient’s health may have significantly deteriorated by the time of the next visit.

With the BodyTel measuring devices – GlucoTel for blood glucose, PressureTel for blood pressure, and the WeightTel scales – as well as the underlying telemedical monitoring and management system, individual nursing staff, or a control center are informed directly if the patient’s measured values fall outside of defined limits. They then receive an alarm message by e-mail, text message, or fax, depending on the settings they have defined. The nursing service can then firstly telephone the patient or a family member, schedule a further visit, send a specialist directly to the patient, or even initiate emergency measures.

A prerequisite for this is that the patient or the responsible support person allows the mobile nursing service to view the measured values in the online record (BodyTel Center). This authorization can also be withdrawn at any time. The nursing service or the specialist must also consent to the approval. By viewing the online record, the nursing staff receive a basis of information for planning their visits and coordination with the patient’s family and doctors.

As the monitoring and management systems from BodyTel also allow manual entry of additional information, nursing staff can also make a note in the system of any measures they take or any further information. This enables doctors, family members, and other nursing staff, who also have access to the record, to be informed of any treatment steps taken.
